The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup is the 19th edition of the FIBA Basketball World Cup, the quadrennial international basketball world championship contested by the men’s national teams of the member federations of FIBA. It will be held in Indonesia from August 25 to September 10, 2023.

Venue

The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup will be held in four cities in Indonesia: Jakarta, Surabaya, Bekasi, and Bandung. Jakarta will host the opening ceremony and the final, while Surabaya will host the semifinals and the third-place game. Bekasi and Bandung will each host four preliminary round groups.

Teams

32 teams will compete in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. The defending champions, Spain, have automatically qualified, as have the host nation, Indonesia. The remaining 30 teams will qualify through a series of regional qualifying tournaments.

2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup

The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup will be played in a single-elimination format. The preliminary round will consist of four groups of eight teams each. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage. The knockout stage will consist of the round of 16, the quarterfinals, the semifinals, the third-place game, and the final.

The NBA playoffs are a four-round, best-of-seven elimination tournament that determines the league’s champion. The playoffs are held after the regular season and the NBA Play-In Tournament.

The top four teams in each conference earn home-court advantage. Series are played in a 2–2–1–1–1 format, with the team with home-court advantage hosting Games 1, 2, 5, and 7. The first team to four wins advances to the next round.
