When the Spanish teams clash in the Copa del Rey semifinals, Real Madrid will have the opportunity to get revenge on Barcelona.

The first of such contests is anticipated to take place on March 1. Then, on April 5, the return leg will take place at Camp Nou. The two El ClĂĄsico matches in the Copa del Rey are thus separated by a full month.

It’s interesting to note that for that month, the two will be quite familiar with one another. Real Madrid and Barcelona will play each other in a league game in March.

As of the beginning of February, Barcelona had a five-point advantage.

Barcelona advanced to the 2019 semifinals with a 3-0 victory in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium the previous time they faced off against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey. This season, Madrid will host the opening leg, with Camp Nou hosting the return.

Since Madrid will be competing in the Club World Cup in Morocco, the opening leg of this season’s semifinals will now need to be postponed until around a month from now.

The two faced up in the same competition last year, but in the semifinals, when Real Madrid eventually prevailed and went on to win the championship. Additionally, Allegiant Stadium hosted El ClĂĄsico for a friendly this past summer. 1-0 was Barcelona’s victory.

With 31, Barcelona has eight more Copa del Rey victories than Athletic. Madrid has 19, but none since 2014, whereas Osasuna’s highest finish was second place in 2005 after losing to Real Betis in the championship game.

Up to this point, all rounds had been played as single games. Madrid defeated Atletico Madrid to move on to the final four, while Barcelona eliminated Real Sociedad.

On May 6, the championship game will be held in Seville.
